This accessibility statement applies to content published on yourvoice.leeds.gov.uk


This website is run by Leeds City Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen

How accessible this website is


We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • Some parts of our website do not have sufficient colour contrast between the text and background colour
  • Some images don’t have alternative text

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations


Elements don’t have sufficient contrast ratio

The grey tab colour, blue buttons when hovered over and captions text across the site does not meet contrast requirements. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum).


Images must have alternate text

The Engagement HQ icon in the footer does not have alternative text. Documents hosted on the site also don’t have alternative text for images. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 Non-text Content.


i (italic) element should not be used

The italic element is used for the mobile menu icons, this is not handled well by screen readers. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.4 Resize Text.


ARIA hidden element must not contain focusable elements

Slider elements not currently active have content that is focusable.  This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility


We are currently in contact with our supplier on how to fix and improve the accessibility of our website and will update our accessibility statement during December 2020.

This website was last tested on 29/09/2020. The test was carried out by Leeds City Council.
