Planning for the future Lincoln Green

Consultation has concluded.

Thank you to all the people that have viewed the Lincoln Green – Planning the Future Project. We are taking forward some of the ideas gathered through the Planning for Real process.

  • Crime and Safety - Over the past 12 month Police, Housing and Leeds Anti-Social Behaviour Team have been working intensively in Lincoln Green to reduce anti-social behaviour in and around some of the blocks. We have increased security patrols in the blocks, introduced closure orders which give the Police powers to remove people from the blocks who don’t live there and provided additional support to some vulnerable tenants who have been targeted.
  • You will have noticed the work in and around the estate to improve the footpaths, create parking bays etc work is currently underway on Lincoln road to make it a safer street for pedestrians and cyclists. Once complete this will create a much nicer route from Lincoln Green into town. We know more needs to be done about parking in Lincoln Green and also protecting and improving the green space.
  • We had lots of ideas for services and activities for people of all ages – These ideas have been used to inform early discussions about a re-vamped Burmantofts Health Centre. This is potentially a big project for Lincoln Green and will take time and significant investment to deliver but teams from the NHS, Council and local third sector organisations are working together to make this project happen. We will keep you informed of progress on Your Voice.
  • As we come out the pandemic it’s important we provide opportunities for people to come together and re-connect. Touchstone who are based next to the shopping centre have been holding regular events in the square. The community centre which has been closed during Covid is now re-open so if you have any ideas for new activities please do get in touch. From September we hope things will be largely back to normal so more group activities will be up and running.
  • Finally we have a couple of new projects in the pipeline. Park Play will be a weekly Saturday morning outdoor play session for children and families – we know there are a lot of children living in Lincoln Green and we hope this regular session will prove popular and provide an opportunity for kids to play out and let of some steam. We are also working with Shakespeare primary school to establish a learn to ride Cycling Hub. We’ll have bikes for children and adults available so people can have a go at Cycling and get more confident.

What's this all about?

Lincoln Green is a neighbourhood which the council wants to improve over the coming years. We don't have lots of money to do this at this stage but we need a plan, so that when money is available we can make sure we spend it on the things that matter most to local people.

Planning for Real is a process which is designed to give you the opportunity to put your ideas forward and get involved in discussions about your neighbourhood. We started this process back in February and held five events in Lincoln Green. We used a giant model of the neighbourhood (made by pupils at Shakespeare Primary school) to collect ideas, suggestions and concerns from around 130 people. Then Coronavirus hit and we've not been able to get back out in the community since March!

We want to use Your Voice Leeds to continue the conversation online.

How to get involved

  • Use the "Your ideas" tool to tell us your suggestions for improving the neighbourhood.
  • Use the "Your priorities" tab to give us feedback on some of the issues which we picked up from the events early this year.
  • Use the "Your place" tab to highlight the best (and not so good parts) of Lincoln Green.
  • Use the "Your questions"link below to ask us about this project.

We've included a link to a short report which summarises some of the ideas we collected from residents back in March. If you are interested please do take a look.

You can stay involved and join conversations with other residents about Lincoln Green by joining the Neighbourhood Plan forum. You can find details about the Neighbourhood Plan on this site or get in touch with us.
