About Safeguarding Adults and Leeds Safeguarding Adults Board

Safeguarding adults is about supporting people with care and support needs to live safe, happy lives free from abuse and neglect.

People with care and support needs may be older people, people with a physical disability, long-term illness, learning disability, mental health condition, drug or alcohol dependency, people who are homeless or carers.

Leeds Safeguarding Adults Board is a group of organisations working together to make sure safeguarding adults happens across the city.

About this competition

A logo is an image or symbol that represents an organisation. Our current logo shows four jigsaw pieces. People have said that it does not show what safeguarding adults is about. So, we'd like people in Leeds to help us design our new logo.

We'd like a logo showing that safeguarding adults is about supporting people with care and support needs to live safe, happy lives free from abuse and neglect. It should be:

  • a simple design
  • different to our current logo
  • colourful
  • easy to identify and include our name Leeds Safeguarding Adults Board

Your logo design must be original. It must not copy a logo used by any other organisation.

It is important to consider how your logo design could be viewed by people with a sight impairment, learning disability or other condition.

By submitting an entry, you agree that your entry complies with the following terms and conditions

1. Who can enter?

This competition is open to residents of Leeds who are aged 16 and over, except for professional artists, graphic designers or employees of graphic design companies. LSAB reserves the right to disqualify and remove any entry that does not comply with the entry criteria.

2. Closing Date

Entries must be submitted by 27 February 2023.

3. How to submit your entry

You can submit your logo using the form below. Alternatively, send your logo design to us by email or post. With your logo design please provide a short explanation to say what it is telling people.

You can send

  • an image file of your logo design
  • a scan of your logo design
  • a photo of your logo and explanation

Emailed images should be saved at the highest quality possible and uploaded as JPG, PNG or TIFF files.

If you are a carer, support worker or community organisation you can use your email address to submit entries for multiple people, but you must include the person's name for each entry.

By post: You can post your entry to Leeds Safeguarding Adults Board, 5th Floor, Merrion House, Leeds, LS2 8QB

In Person: You can hand in your design at any Leeds City Council Community Hub or Library. Please put it in an envelope addressed to Leeds Safeguarding Adults Board, 5th Floor, Merrion House.

If you post your entry or hand it in please provide your name and an email address or telephone number so we can contact you in the event of you being successful.

Please note: We do not accept any responsibility for any entries that are not successfully completed, lost or delayed. We will not return any artwork, and after the competition closes your artwork may be archived or destroyed. Please don't post any artwork to us that you want to keep.

4. Prizes

One winner will receive a £50 Amazon Voucher.

Two runners up will each receive a £20 Amazon voucher. For the avoidance of doubt, there are no cash alternatives to these prizes.

5. How much does it cost to enter the competition?

This competition is free to enter.

Any costs associated with the creation of your design will not be covered by Leeds Safeguarding Adults Board.

6. How we will select the winner

  • Stage 1 - All entries will be shown to a selection panel. They will select a short list of designs.
  • Stage 2- The shortlisted designs will be included in public survey. The Logos will be anonymous. Noone will know who designed them.
  • Stage 3 – LSAB members will select the winning design after considering the survey feedback.

7. How we will announce the winner

The winner and the two runners up will be notified, using the contact details they supplied with their entry.

8. How we will use the winning logo design

By submitting an entry to this competition, you agree that in the event of you winning, or being a runner up, you will participate in related publicity and that we can use your name for the purposes of advertising, promotion and publicity without compensation.

The wining entrant will give ownership rights of the winning logo design to Leeds Safeguarding Adults Board.

The logo will be used on our resources, including social media, website, posters, leaflets and training materials.

The winning entrant will not be entitled to any further payment for use of the logo by Leeds Safeguarding Adults Board.

9. Other terms and conditions

By submitting an entry to this competition, you accept these terms and conditions as final and binding.

Leeds Safeguarding Adults Board reserves the right to disqualify any competition entrant who breaches these Terms & Conditions or acts fraudulently in any way.

In the event of any dispute regarding the rules, conduct, results and all other matters relating to this competition, the decision of Leeds Safeguarding Adults Board shall be final. No correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.

Leeds Safeguarding Adults Board reserves the right at any time to cancel, change or postpone the competition, if it deems it appropriate to do so, with no liability to any Entrant. Any changes will be publicised on LSAB's website www.Leedssab.org.uk

10. How we will use your personal data

We will only use your personal data, such as your name, Email address or telephone number for the purposes of this competition.

We will hold your details securely for one year from the competition end date. After that time your details will be deleted or disposed of securely.

We will not pass your details onto any other organisation.
