Pre-planning Public Consultation (Closed on Monday 1st February 2021)

Information on the consultation held January - February 2021 can be found below:

Leeds City Council is working to deliver 1,500 high quality council homes over the next five years to meet increasing need in the city and to deliver on our aim to be the best city to live in. Pressure on council housing stock is increasing with an average of 183 bids for each home advertised in the local area.

The proposal

The Council’s appointed contractor, Willmott Dixon Construction Limited, is preparing a planning application to provide the new council homes on site.

We would welcome your views prior to submitting the planning application for the development, which will provide 16 general needs houses:

  • 10 x 2 bed houses
  • 4 x 3 bed houses
  • 2 x 4 bed houses

All homes will be let and managed by Leeds City Council.

Why this site was chosen

There is a shortage of affordable housing in Leeds, and over 15 households have an urgent housing need in the local area.

The proposed development site is an area of greenspace at the northern end of Scott Hall Drive which was previously occupied by residential dwellings. The site is served by the existing highway and considered to sit within a sustainable location. The area is now maintained grassed open space and features a small number of mature trees.

This housing development will support the Council's priorities of providing quality, affordable housing where it is needed. A contribution to green space improvements in the local area would also be made as part of the development.

All our homes are built to the Leeds Standard specification, with a focus on: improved energy performance; reducing carbon emissions; improving air quality and tackling fuel poverty.
